Meet Kayla

Kayla Shannon, LMFT

I help people build more grounded relationships with themselves and others by understanding their patterns and learning how to respond with intention. My work focuses on couples therapy and individuals navigating OCD, anxiety, childhood trauma and attachment, and spirituality.

I care deeply about this work and the people I sit with. I bring honesty, presence, and engagement into each session, creating space for growth that is both supportive and challenging. Therapy with me is active and reflective, focused on understanding the patterns that shape your reactions and the parts of yourself that learned to adapt in order to cope or belong.

Rather than staying at the level of insight alone, the work centers on how change actually happens. I help clients move from reactivity to connection, from shame to accountability, and from survival to choice. Growth, in my view, comes from facing what is uncomfortable and learning how to stay present through it.

I hold a Master’s degree in Family Therapy and have extensive experience working with the queer community. I also enjoy mentoring therapists in training who are developing their own voice in this work. Outside of sessions, you will usually find me hiking with my Australian Shepherd, Willow, or writing.
