Our Approach

Our Principles of Therapy

1

Clear and direct therapy

We are direct, grounded, and honest. We name patterns, slow things down, and help you understand exactly what’s happening in your relationships and within yourself.

2

Understand the Roots

Your past shapes how you show up today. Together, we look at what you were taught, what was role modeled, and the survival strategies you learned along the way. When you can clearly see the origins of your patterns, you can choose new ways of relating and leading your life.

3

You Are Capable

We work from the belief that you have more strength and agency than you realize. Our role isn’t to rescue you. It’s to help you access the part of you that leads. Through nervous system work, parts work, and clear action steps, we build momentum and lasting change.

FAQs

What is your approach to therapy?

We understand symptoms like anxiety, shutdown, conflict or overthinking as adaptive responses shaped by experience, stress and attachment history. Instead of treating symptoms as problems to fix, therapy examines how they operate in the present and what purpose they serve. This creates space for clearer choices and more adaptive responses over time.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept Aetna, Optum and Husky. Telehealth therapy is available across Connecticut, and in person sessions are offered in Farmington. Private pay options available. Sliding scale offered. Because benefits vary by plan, we confirm coverage individually before the first session.

What if I’m not sure I can change?

Uncertainty is expected and often part of the work. Many people begin therapy feeling stuck, guard or unsure of themselves. Therapy doesn’t require certainty or motivation. It works when there is enough openness to explore what’s happening and enough willingness to try small, different responses over time.
